Dennis Alan Gabriel

vet
Nov 17, 1944 – Dec 4, 2013

Dennis Gabriel, 69, of Racine, passed away on December 4, 2013, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  He was born in Chicago, IL, on November 17, 1944, son of the late Otto and Hattie (nee: Otzwirk) Gabriel.

Dennis was married to the love of his life, Kathleen (nee: McFarland) Gabriel, on June 17, 1967.

Dennis graduated from Central High School in 1963.  He faithfully served his country with the Army National Guard.  Dennis loved to spend time with Kathy by going antiquing.  He also enjoyed collecting Civil War memorabilia.  Dennis could always be found on Sundays rooting for his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers.  Above all, he was a family man who truly loved his entire family, including his greyhound, Lilly.  Dennis will be dearly missed.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathleen Gabriel of Racine; children, Christian Gabriel of Racine, Lauren (Chris) Weis of Salem, Alanna (Marc Bessette) Gabriel of Rochester; grandchildren, Hattie Weis of Salem, James Koepsel, Luc Bessette, both of Rochester; brother, Kenneth (Ingrid) Gabriel of Bristol; nephew, Ralph (Gretchen) Gabriel of Antioch; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.  In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Gabriel; and brother, Tony Gabriel.

A visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013, 4:00pm until 7:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  Services and burial will be private at Salem Mound Cemetery.

Dennis was a good co-worker and, better yet, a great friend. We shared good times together in the few years we knew each other. He will be missed…

Kathy and Family – so sorry to hear of Dennis’ passing. He lived next door to my aunt and we graduated from Central together. Remembering him at Salem Oaks beach and in the Central hallways – always carried that “swagger” and a great grin that made you wonder what he was up to. May God bless you and your family with His peace at this time.

Dear Kathy and Family, I am so sorry I wasn’t at the visitation yesterday but I just found out about Dennis today when I called Autumn Leaf.It has been a long and painful watch. Now Dennis and you are all at peace and know that he is in a much better place. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if my Mother was there to greet him. You have all been in my daily prayers since I learned of his illness. I prayed for what was best for all of you. I guess the Lord heard all of us. I send my love and lots of hugs. I’ll see you soon. Sincerely, Valorie

Sorry for your loss. He was a good neighbor and friend. Weather kept us away, but you were in our thoughts and prayers.

Testimonials

February 20, 2019

Mike and his team did a fabulous job with the memorial service for our Mom. It was perfect and he made the process easy for me to go through during such a difficult time. She had chosen theĀ funeral homeĀ before hand, and she made the right choice. The service was beautiful, simple, and sweet. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
