WATERFORD, WI (formerly of Kenosha) – Mr. Frederick Theodore Makoveck, 91, passed away at Eldercare Cottages in Waterford on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

Fred was born in Kenosha on May 6, 1923, the son of the late Ignatz and Janina (nee: Michalek) Makoveck.  He graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School and attended Marquette University for a year before being drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII.   He proudly served in the European Theater; spending most of his tour in Italy.  After the war he embarked on a 44 year career with American Motors.

On May 3, 1968, Fred married Beverly Learned.  Upon retirement they moved to Roswell, NM for 16 years before returning to Kenosha in 2005.  Beverly preceded him in death on July 7, 2010.

Fred was active in the V.F.W. and American Legion in both Kenosha and Roswell; serving as post chaplain while in New Mexico.   A man of faith, he attended St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.  He enjoyed gardening, traveling, photography, music and being in the company of his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Jim) Rein of Denver, CO, Kandace Makoveck of Big Bend, WI; grandchildren, Ava and Kilian Lennartz; step-children, Kelvin James and Kevin (Nancy) James of Pleasant Prairie; sister, Irene Lawler.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Makoveck.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Home on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. for a time to meet and visit with his family.  A Russian Orthodox prayer service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Stephen Hrycyniak officiating.  An interment with military honors will take place afterward at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Special thanks to Mike Langendorf….many tears of joy overwhelm the family. You are a very unique person.  I cry because you know how to make the best out of any situation. You lay my husband away beautifully and there are not words that I can really express how grateful I am. All the people at your funeral have my gratitude for the love and care you showed us.   You all are truly God fearing people who care about people.  Thanks and may God bless you all richly!   The Coleman’s
