Florn Nicholas Schmidt

vet
Nov 23, 1927 – Nov 18, 2015

~~Florn Nicholas Schmidt, age 87, passed away at Froedtert Hospital on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
He was the third child born to Henry and Edna Schmidt in Racine, Wisconsin on November 23, 1927.
Florn was married to Marie G. Toutant on May 20, 1950.  They were blessed with two children.  Daughter, Cindy M. Boedecker, husband Kenneth, of Racine, Wisconsin, and son, Ronald F. Schmidt, wife Carol, of Jacksonville, Oregon.
Florn was employed and retired from Jacobsen Manufacturing.
Florn married Gloria J. Mandli on July 24th 1982.  They shared an undeniable love for over 40 years as the best of friends.  Together they traveled the world, and danced many nights away.
Florn was a man who helped so many people without expecting anything in return.  Easy to talk to, and ever so loving.  He spent hours making a video of our family history.  We now have his sweet voice to remember him by.  Florn was a man who could weather hurt with the utmost grace, always kindly, and forgiving.  He was a very talented wood worker, and could basically build and fix anything he set his mind to.  A close second to loving his family, he loved his antique cars, and just cars in general.  With every car he bought, he would follow up with just how many cars he had owned in his life, I believe he was up to 78. He loved going to the Antigue School House Mall with his brothers after breakfast on Wednesdays when they could make it.  He especially loved old toys.  This delightful character will be sorely missed.  We feel so blessed to have had a wonderful man like him in our lives.  While sad at this moment for the loss, we will always think of him with happy, endearing memories.
Florn was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wallace Schmidt; brother LeRoy (Boots) Schmidt; long time love, Gloria Mandli.  Florn leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Cindy Boedecker, husband Kenneth, of Racine, Wisconsin and Ronald Schmidt, wife Carol of Jacksonville, Oregon, brother Fred Schmidt, wife Lois, sister Alice Hornby, husband Robert, Sharon Slaasted, husband Dale.  Grandchildren; Adam Boedecker, Christian Boedecker, wife Jennifer, Benjamin Boedecker, wife Cristel, Michael Galloway, wife Heather, Austin Schmidt, Breanna Schmidt.  Great grandchildren; Sabrina Boedecker, Annalysa Boedecker, Barnabas Boedecker, Isaac Galloway.
Visitation will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road on Monday, November 23, 2015, (Florn's 88th birthday) from 5:00p.m. until services at 6:00p.m.  Following, all comers are welcome to join the family for dinner at Buena Vita Restaurant, on the East end of the Elmwood Plaza.  Tuesday, November 24, 2015, the family will meet at the chapel in West Lawn Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. for final prayer's and goodbye's.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Brian and the rest of the staff, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for handling every detail of our mom’s (Vera Miller’s) funeral so expeditiously and flawlessly. Being here in North Carolina, I was worried about getting mom back to WI which was her wish. All I had to do was make one phone call to your office and you seamlessly got her from Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC back to WI.

All of the arrangements were so impeccable; pictures, book for signing, flowers, thank you and acknowledgement cards, arrangements with Graceland Cemetery, and even playing our slideshow with music and photos, and getting it to loop properly.

You took so much worry off of me and my siblings by professionally stepping in and handling everything for us. I was going a little crazy thinking I had to do it all, but you helped so much that we just needed to share these thoughts and feelings with others. Thank you for everything,

– Vicky Coerper, Janice Miller, Kenny Miller and Monica Bailey
