Julie Kay Sickler

May 9, 1953 – Nov 11, 2008

Racine – Julie K. Sickler, 55, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 after suffering an epileptic seizure. Julie was born in Green Bay on May 9, 1953 to Richard and Cleo (nee: Vandenbush) Matzke. She has been a Racine resident for the past 12 years. On August 9, 1980, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Joseph S. Sickler. Julie was employed by Arby’s Restaurant on Durand Avenue. Catholic by faith, she worshiped her Lord at St. Lucy Catholic Church. Among her interests, she enjoyed flower / vegetable gardening and was a fabulous cook. Surviving are her loving husband of 28 years, Joe; children, David Sickler and his friend Bre, John Sickler, Stephanie (Eddie) Cook and Christopher Sickler; father, Richard Matzke; mother, Cleo Matzke; sisters, Jean Tsokatos and Jaye (David) Largent; brothers, Rick (Kristen) Matzke and Bill (Lynn) Matzke; Uncle Jack and ‘Ant’ Donna Vandenbush; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. There will be time to visit with the family at the church on Monday from 12:00 noon – 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Epilepsy Foundation have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to the entire staff of the All Saints Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for the compassionate care and support given during this most difficult week.
