Lyle R. Salvo Sr.

Dec 12, 1924 – Aug 9, 2009

Lyle R. Salvo Sr., 84, died in North Port, FL on Sunday, August 9, 2009. He was born in Racine on December 12, 1924, the son of the late Lyle A. and Elizabeth (nee: Williamson) Salvo. On October 1, 1948 he was united in marriage to the former Carol Fehlberg who preceded him in death on August 13, 1989. On April 6, 1991 he was united in marriage to the former Jeanette “Jean” Warford. Mr. Salvo had been employed by the Journal Times, mainly as a photographer, for over 46 years. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, the Racine Fire Bells, the Wisconsin News Photographers Assoc., and the Christians in Photo Journalism. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, and traveling. Surviving are his wife Jeanette “Jean” Salvo in Florida; his sons, Jay (Joan) Salvo in Madison, Steve (Stacey) Salvo of Racine; 4 grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Salvo of Oregon, WI, Michael (Jenny Stopple) Salvo of Albion, WI, Adam and Aaron Salvo of Racine; stepdaughters, Patricia (Don) Moran of North Port, FL, Geri Milinski of Port Charlotte FL, and Aileen (Tom) Tomatz of Waukesha, WI; sister-in-law, Dorothy Salvo of Racine. His nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Salvo was also preceded in death by his son Lyle R. Salvo Jr. on June 30, 1995, brothers, Ray, Harry, and Jack Salvo, and his sister Alice Salvo. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place in Florida. There will be a time for relatives and friends to meet with the family in the funeral home on Friday, August14th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to either St. Andrew Lutheran Church or the Racine Fire Bells.
