Edward Lee Kimmons

Apr 2, 1937 – Aug 15, 2009

Racine – Edward Lee “Reed” Kimmons, 72, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Saturday, August 15, 2009 as the result of a Pulmonary Embolism. Edward was born in New Albany, MS on April 2, 1937 to the late Velmer and Lucille (nee: Robinson) Kimmons. He received Christ at an early age through Watson Grove Baptist Church in New Albany. On May 15, 1972 he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Patricia Ann (nee: Pitt). Reed was employed as a welder at American Standard until his retirement in 1984. Reed and Patricia moved to Racine from Peoria, IL in 1989. Among his interests, he was an avid reader and sports fanatic. Above all, he cherished being in the midst of his entire family. Surviving are his loving wife, Patricia; children, Mark Edward Kimmons and Brian Kimmons, all of Racine; Christopher Kimmons of Indianapolis, IN; Sharice Kimmons and Theresa Pitt, both of Racine; Doris and Joe Allen Coleman, both of Indianapolis; and Donna Williams of St. Louis, MO; 17 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James Kimmons of Oxford, MS and Henry Kimmons of Columbus, OH; special aunt, Mary Toy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Catherine Patterson, Barbara Pitt, Lisa Neal, Wylinda (Rev. Larry Brown), Jeffery (Venus) Pitt, George (Diane) Pitt, Constance Pitt, Dorothy Kimmons and Madora Kimmons; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brothers, Ira, Butler (Bernice) and Curtis Kimmons; and sisters, Juliette (Louis) Norwood, Lura Mae (Roscoe) Evans and Virginia (Arthur) Howard. Homegoing services will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:00 am in All Nations Pentecostal Prayerhouse, 1502 W. 6th Street, with Rev. Virginia Lackey and Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am.
