Robert Raymond Lewis

May 7, 1919 – Sep 17, 2009

Racine – Dr. Robert Raymond Lewis, 90, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital on Thursday, September 17, 2009. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 7, 1919, son of the late Raymond and Ebba (nee: Rehn) Lewis. He completed his pre-dental studies at the University of Chicago, and graduated from Marquette University Dental School in 1944. Dr. Lewis served in the US Navy during WWII, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He was united in holy matrimony to the former Irene Sinsky on September 14, 1946 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Racine. Dr. Lewis enjoyed a long dental career and his many wonderful patients, but it was his wife and family that were foremost in his life. In his free time he enjoyed biking, running and hiking, and was an avid reader. Dr. Lewis was a member of the Racine Kiwanis, was past president of the Serra Club, a member of the Racine, the Wisconsin, and the National Dental Societies. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He volunteered his time and talents for Meals on Wheels, Toys for Tots, Racine Unified Schools, and Ridgewood Care Center. His kindness, patience, and positive attitude touched all who knew him. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Irene, he will be missed by his 5 children, Patricia A. Lewis of Flint, Michigan, Dr. Michael (Paulette) Lewis of McFarland, Ann (John) Ruetz of Nashotah, Jane (John Michael Maier) Lewis of Milwaukee, and Mary Kay (Dr. Bruce) Kempen; 5 grandchildren, including Michael Ruetz of Whitefish Bay, Julie (Ryan) Walsh of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Amy Ruetz of Nashotah, Anthony Chojnacki of Milwaukee, and Robert Kempken of Twin Lakes; his brother, Jerome (Agnes) Lewis of Worth, Illinois; brother-in-law Dr. John (Regina) Sinsky of Brookfield; sister-in-law Margery (Dr. William) Stilp of Appleton; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins; and his long-time Hearts card group. The memorial mass for Dr. Robert R. Lewis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Visitation will begin in the church at 9:30 a.m. Interment services at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Catherine’s High School; St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church; or to your favorite charity have been suggested.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Dear Bob,
I just wanted to thank you again for all your help and everything you did for my grandfather’s funeral. Looking back on it, I think Gramps would have been so proud of how everything turned out and it would not have been possible without your help. Your staff is amazing and has allowed us the grieve without worrying about the little details of everything that goes into making the arrangements and planning the services. You helped us honor one of the most amazing men in my life, and it meant so much to me personally and to my family. Thank you for everything.
Take care,
Jessie Tuttle
