Lee Smith

Feb 20, 1939 – Sep 19, 2009

Lee A. Smith, 70, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 19, 2009. He was born in Belden, MS on February 20, 1939 the son of the late Nathaniel and Daisy (nee: Harper) Smith. He had been employed by Ladish-Tri Clover for nearly 30 years. Mr. Smith was a member of Greater Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, the Tri Clover Club, and I.A.M. Local 34. He was an avid sportsman; enjoying bowling, fishing, hunting, baseball, basketball and football. Surviving are his wife Pinkie; sons, Bernard (Johnnie), Rev. Lavern (Julia), Ricky (Melissa) Jeffery, Lee (Karen); daughters, Laurie (Tony), Daisy (Mike), Zena (Paris), Leatrice, Brenda, Renee, Roena, Beatrice, Shanda, Tifinie, Tyra, and Tomisha; 42 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Nathaniel (Louise) Smith of Racine, Rufus (Gwen) Scott of Olive Branch, MS; 2 sisters, Reba (Floyd) Griffin of Racine, Corrine (Charles) Brown of Lima, OH, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Bernice Scott of Chicago, IL, Richard (Aletha) Coleman of Dallas, TX, and Barbara Thomas (Jack) of Racine; godson Robert Lee, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Smith; step-father Rufus Scott, great grandson, Urijah Gilleylen; sisters, Annie Lou Smith, Vie Moore, Reba Moody, and Margaret Driver, brothers, Leodis Scott and Joe Scott, and brothers-in-law, William Coleman and Vernon Thomas. His Homegoing Service will be held at Greater Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, 929 State St., at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28th with Keith Evans officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. James Waltenberger, Bonnie Hipke, Dr. Thomas Vravick, Dr. John Brennan, Dr. Pankaj Dhingra and their staffs as well as Dialysis East for their care and compassion shown towards Mr. Smith and his family.
