Betty Lu Tajnai

Jul 30, 1928 – Dec 9, 2009

Yorkville – Betty Lu (nee:Loew) Tajnai, 81, passed away unexpectedly at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. She was born in Keystone, Wisconsin on July 30, 1928, daughter of the late Ervin and Teresa (nee: Meyer) Loew. Betty Lu moved to Kenosha with her family at an early age, and had been a Racine area resident for all of her adult life. On July 16, 1949 she was united in holy matrimony to Joseph J. Tajnai at St. George Catholic Church in Kenosha. Betty Lu enjoyed working and took great pride in all she did. She began her career at Simmons Mattress, and then went on to work at Young Radiator. She retired in 1989 from Chrysler after 19 years of service. She also loved to stay busy working in her yard, gardening and landscaping. Betty Lu had a special place in her heart for animals, especially for her Cairn Terriers. Most of all, she cherished the time she had with her grandchildren. Betty Lu is survived by her daughter, Linda Tajnai of Yorkville, and her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Kathy Tajnai of Raymond; her granddaughters, Juliana and Theresa Tajnai of Raymond; her sisters, Yvonne Haile in Utah, and Janice Thomas of Racine; sister-in-laws, Annie Putra of Racine, and Margaret Balog of Racine; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Steve and Joyce Tajnai of Racine; her dear nephew, Michael Conway of Racine; and her good friend, Darlene “Bunny” Swingle of Kansasville. She is further survived by many other nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her sisters, Amanda Woods, Henrietta Schroetter, and Bernice Markwell; and her brothers, Roman, Nordale, Lester, and Dean Loew. Funeral services will be held at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will be in the funeral home Monday evening from 5-7p.m., and Tuesday in the church beginning at 10a.m. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Racine County Sheriff’s Dept., the Yorkville Fire and Rescue Dept., and the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints Emergency Dept. staff for their swift and heroic attempts to save Betty’s life.

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for all the kindness and sincere expressions of sympathy that you extended to us during the loss of my son, Todd Swanson. We appreciate all the extra special things you did to help us through this very difficult time. We didn’t have to think ahead, we just had to be there while every little detail was taken care of by you and your staff. This made an impression on everyone that came, and I will never forget it. Thank you from all of us.
