
Mrs. Matilda Kitzmann, 97, passed away in Ridgewood Care Center on Wednesday, December 29, 2009. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on March 24, 1912 the daughter of the late Rudolph and Eleanore (nee:Hein) Kitzmann. In Milwaukee, in 1929, she was united in marriage to Arthur Kitzmann who preceded her in death on February 21, 1978. Mrs. Kitzmann was employed by Wingspread for over 25 years, retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church and was presently a member of Pentecost Lutheran Church. She loved to cook and bake for her family, especially her famous potato pancakes and rolls. Mrs. Kitzmann’s favorite time of the years was spending time with her family in Hawaii. She was active with the Lutheran High School Thrift Shop and St. John’s Mission Guild. Her God, her family, and her church, were the centers of her life. Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Bemford, of Montgomery, IL; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Kitzman, of Racine; grandchildren, Danny, Karen, Jodi, Kathi, Joan, Kim, and Julie; great-grandchildren, Josh, Michael, Drew, Brad, Kyle, Leilani, Kristina, Adam, Haley, and Kaitlin; great-great- grandchildren, Cameron, Cody, Jack, Nola, Dakota, Bailey, Lexi, and Laci; sister, Lillian Thoemke, of Minoqua; sisters-in-law Grace Kitzmann, of Pittsville, WI, and Mae Marweg, of Green Bay, special caregivers, Jim and Nancy Rooney. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends further survive her. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David Kitzman, daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jane and Dick Phillips, and brothers, Walter, Emil, and Harvey Kitzmann, and sisters, Hattie Kitzmann, Helen Newman, and Emily Eichstaedt. Her funeral service will be held in St. John Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie St., on Monday, January 4th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Daniel B. Quinn and Rev. Luke Jacob officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials have been suggested to St. John Lutheran Church or Pentecost Lutheran Church.
