Mary Louise Selbach

Dec 14, 1920 – Feb 3, 2010

Racine – Mary Louise Selbach, 89, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. She was born in Racine on December 14, 1920, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (nee: Beumer) Westrich. On October 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to Raymond Selbach in Holy Name Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed a long career at St. Mary’s Hospital where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Following their retirement she and Ray traveled, and while they lived in Alabama, Florida, and Illinois Mary continued serving others by volunteering in several nursing homes. Mary took great joy in baking, puzzles, caring for “Cleo”, and the happiness of children. She was formerly a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.. She is survived by her children, Lon (Cherry) Selbach of Racine, and Pamela Lamb of Kenosha; granddaughter, Rebecca Selbach of Racine; and her dear friend, John Lamb of Seneca, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Henry, Richard, and Robert Westrich; and sisters, Gertrude Chapman, Jane Westrich, and LaVerne Larabee. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 with her Godson, Father Larry Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. All are invited to visit in the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials to the family are appreciated.

Thank you so very much for the exemplary care that you provided for both our mom and dad. Your family is extremely kind and exudes much empathy towards others. You and your staff display much professionalism with great talent and attention to detail. Mom and dad were always very particular in their appearance. Mom would say, You are leaving a lasting impression of yourself with someone to remember you by. Your parents taught you boys well; be very proud of that! Love on them, as death is so very permanent.

Holly and I are officially orphans now. It is people like your family and David Huck being there for us, that bring comfort when you are going through one of the most difficult challenges life throws at you.

I thank God every day for our Ostergaard family and will always cherish the memories.
