Mary Jane Djurich

Jun 2, 1937 – Jun 24, 2010

   Racine- Mary Jane Djurich, 73, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Thursday, June 24, 2010.

Mary was born in Exland, WI on June 2, 1937 to the late Vern and Fay (nee: Burnett) Van Wey, Sr. She was united in marriage with the love of her life, Steve Djurich, on January 31, 1955 in Chicago.

   Mary was a proud and tireless homemaker who devoted her entire life to her family.

   Mary was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. Among her interests: she enjoyed knitting, sewing and aqua-sizing, especially at Wadewitz School pool and the YMCA. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.

  Surviving are her husband of over 55 years, Steve; their children, Rose (Klaus) Hausler and Larry (Joyce) Djurich; grandchildren, Donald (Michelle) Wadewitz II, Hillary Hausler, Amanda (Dan) DeHahn and Steven Djurich; great-grandson, Jackson DeHahn; brothers, Leonard (Lorraine) Van Wey, Dareld “Dude” (Iris) Van Wey and Glen (Virginia) Van Wey; sister, Doris (Joe) Kilichowski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,  Shirley Van Wey; Nikola (Mikica), Marko (Mika), Angie (Djuro) and Djuja Djurich; and Stavania (Sava) Bursac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Vern Van Wey, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Peter Djurich.

    Funeral services will be on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10 am in St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 6108 Braun Rd., with Father Marko Pantich officiating. Interment will be on Monday at 12:30 pm in St. Sava Serbian Cemetery in Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 pm with the Mali Pomen prayer service being offered at 8 pm. There will also be visitation in the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 – 9:45 am at which time the procession will leave for St. George Church.

    A special note of thanks to Mary’s private caregiver, Carol Jones, for her dedication; to Dr. Ned Mejalli and  the entire staff of Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for the compassionate care and support. Your kindness and support will always be remembered.
