Diane Ruth Zalokar

May 7, 1933 – Aug 18, 2010

Racine- Diane Ruth (nee: Peyret) Zalokar, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital. She was born on May 7, 1933 in Riverside, CA to Germain and Sara (nee: McCoy) Peyret. On June 27, 1953 she was united in marriage to Ronald Zalokar. They spent their early life in Carthage, IL before moving to Racine in 1962. In 1975, she earned a BA degree from Carthage College. Diane was employed at Racine Country Club as a bookkeeper for 20 years. She found time to volunteer at First Presbyterian Church where she had been a member since 1965. She also donated her time to Carthage College and to her sorority, Kappa Phi Eta. After her retirement, she found great happiness and purpose volunteering at the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital gift shop. Diane is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Zalokar; son, Gary (Michele) Zalokar; daughters, Gail (Doug) Bauman and Gwyn Zalokar; seven grandchildren, Colin Zalokar, Jake Zalokar, Sara Bauman, Sean Bauman, Greg Bauman, Griffin Bauman and Riley Bauman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Germain and Sara Peyret; and her son, Glen Zalokar. Diane will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, reading and all sporting events. She was partial to the Cubs, Bears, and any athletic event connected to Carthage College. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In accordance with Diane’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held. Memorials can be made to the “Zalokar Endowment Fund” at Carthage College Development Office (2001 Alford Park Drive, Kenosha, WI 53140) or to “First Presbyterian Church Building Fund” (716 College Ave., Racine, WI 53403).

The family wishes to thank Jim and Beverly Stulac for their constant assistance; and to the staffs of Wheaton Franciscan Hospice and Wheaton Franciscan Hospital – second floor, for their compassionate care given to Diane.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

We would like to personally thank Brian for what a warm, compassionate funeral you arranged. You always put our thoughts first and answered and responded to my many phone calls about everything. The artistry of the belongings of our son was amazing. Everything was so beautiful. So many people complimented on how the arrangement was set up by you. We as a family will never forget what you did for us in our time of need. Thank you very much Brian.
