Arlene O. DeHart

May 6, 1933 – Sep 19, 2010

Racine- Arlene Onamarie (nee: Bell) DeHart, 77, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Sunday, September 19, 2010.

A lifetime resident, Arlene was born on May 6, 1933 to the late Leo and Mabel (nee: Rieckhoff) Bell and was a graduate of Washington Park High School. On April 16, 1955 in Holy Name Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, James W. DeHart, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2007.

Early in life, Arlene enjoyed being the candy-girl at the Venetian and Rialto Theaters. Many years later, she was employed by Doyle’s Pharmacy and Easterday Office Supply, from where she retired.

Arlene was a proud and faithful member of St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, formerly known as Holy Name, for many, many years. Among her interests, Arlene enjoyed bowling and supporting all of husband’s activities. Above all, she loved devoting herself to her family as a tireless and phenomenal wife, mother and grandmother – who was anxiously awaiting her first “soon-to-be born” great-grandchild.

Surviving are her children, Curtis (Nancy) DeHart and Lori (Peggy Vincent) DeHart; grandchildren, Rachel DeHart and Shane (Jess) DeHart; sister-in-law, Dolores DeHart; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Lillian Bell, Leo “Buddy” Bell Jr., Gilbert (Thelma) Bell, Charles (Lorraine) Bell, Geraldine (Russ) Sabatino and Georgelean (Maurice) Hansen; Jim’s parents, Sigrid (nee: Forslund) and Daniel N. DeHart, Sr.; and brothers-in-law, Robert DeHart and Daniel N. (Mary) DeHart, Jr.

Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 -2:30 pm. Interment will be on Monday in West Lawn Memorial Park – please meet at the front entrance of the cemetery at 9:00 am. In memory of Arlene, memorials may be made to St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church or one’s favorite charity.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the nursing staff (2B) at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints, Wheaton Hospice Care and to the staff at Ridgewood Care Center for the compassionate care and support in our Mom’s time of need. The family would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Dolly, Barb and Maureen who always knew what would lift Mom’s spirits and put a smile on her face. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

After the passing of our loved one, the time came to make the arrangements for his funeral and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more kind and caring as Mark was. He picked up on all the little details and things we held close to our hearts and made the celebration of this wonderful man’s life very special. Even playing taps along with the honor guard, Mark we can’t thank you enough…our heartfelt thanks go out to you and the staff.
Sincerely, THE GENE GRABHER FAMILY

Linda
