May 15, 1931 – Oct 25, 2010

Mr. Wayne L. Kruse, 79, passed away at Elizabeth Residence in Caledonia on Monday, October 25, 2010 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born in Racine on May 15, 1931, the son of the late Leo and Evelyn (nee: Nelson) Kruse.  On May 29, 1974, he married the former Vickie Nelson in Waukegan, Illinois.

Mr. Kruse owned WK Enterprise and operated as a self employed trucking and transportation company.  Prior to trucking, he owned Wayne’s Roofing in Racine for many years.

Mr. Kruse loved driving.  In addition to traveling throughout the country in his truck, he enjoyed long drives with his wife by car and motorcycle.

He was a longtime member of Grace Church.

In addition to his wife, Vickie, his survivors include his children, Wayne (Kathy) Kruse of Elkhorn, Jens Kruse of Lake Geneva, Jill Langdon, Daniel (Theresa) Kruse both of Racine, Joan Figarelli of Lyons, Julie Werlein of Burlington, Kayne (Stacey) Kruse of Austin, TX, Jami (Dan) DeRosia of Racine; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Jean Koss of Aurora, CO; mother-in-law, Angeline Nelson of Racine and brother-in-law, Kurt (Theresa) Nelson of Minoqua.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Larry Koss and father-in-law, Donald Nelson.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, October 29, 2010 at noon for the celebration of Wayne’s life with Pastor Jerry Worsham officiating.  There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until noon.  A private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Memorials in Mr. Kruse’s name have been suggested to Grace Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Elizabeth Residence, Robin and the staff with Vitas Hospice and his best friend, Dennis Williams for the loving care extended to Wayne and his family both during and at the end of his battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
