Josephine Wheeler Bean

May 10, 1926 – Dec 14, 2010

     Josephine Wheeler Bean, 83, passed away in the Manor Care Center, Kenosha, on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. She was born in Fulton, MS on May 10, 1927 the daughter of the late Herschel V. and Sophia (Reed) Wheeler.

    On March 19, 1945 she was united in marriage to William H. Bean. The Beans founded, owned, and operated AWI until their retirement in 1991. They were charter members of the Spring Street Church of Christ. Mrs. Bean was an extremely active member of the church. She was a member of the DAR. Mrs. Bean enjoyed, traveling, cooking and taking care of her family.

    Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, William; their children, Judith (Charles) Johnson, and Dr. Craig (Tami) Bean, all of Racine; 6 grandchildren, Andrew Johnson and Rachel Johnson, both of Racine, Lauren (Lorenzo) Bean-Gonzalez  of Erie, CO, Kailey (Jonathan) Christiano, Kyle Bean, and William Bean,  all of Racine; great granddaughter, Bella Gonzalez; 4 sisters, her identical twin, Jacqueline Brumley, of Columbus, MS, Louise Barnes, of Lafayette, LA, Betty (William) Jeffcoat, of Murray, KY, Carolyn (Gary) Smith of Tupelo, MS, and Molly (Doug) Smith, of Fulton, MS; and sister-in-law, Evelyn “Sis” Wheeler, of Iuka, MS. Her nieces, nephews, church family, other relatives and friends further survive her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bean was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Basil Wheeler and H.V. Wheeler Jr.; and 2 sisters, Reva Gurley and Yvonne “Pug” Rogers.

    Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at noon with her son, Dr Craig Bean officiating.

    Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Private entombment will take place on Monday. The family has suggested memorials be made to the Spring Street Church of Christ

    Josephine will be greatly missed. She was like a second mother to me and I loved her dearly. There are not many childhood memories that do not include the Beans.
