Racine– Nancy Joan (nee: Therkelson) Grabowski, 79, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Friday, January 28, 2011.

A lifetime resident, Nancy was born in Racine on February 12, 1931 to the late Arthur and Violet (nee: Bhirdo) Therkelson. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1949.  On April 7, 1951 in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Donald Grabowski.

Nancywas a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Among her interests, she enjoyed shopping, trying her luck at the casino, and spending time up-north in Black River Falls. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Don; their children, Steven Grabowski, Leslie Sullivan and Christine (Stephen) Leszczynski; grandchildren, Bryan (May) Graceffa, Beth Graceffa, Andrew Graceffa, Amy (Tim Feret) Leszczynski and Craig Leszczynski; great-granddaughters, Lula and Maimie Graceffa; many other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Tom Graceffa and Kip Sullivan.

A memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. A reception will follow. Private entombment will take place at the S. Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30 am – 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Orphaned Kanines.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan, especially the Hospice, for the comforting care and support given in our time of need. May God bless all of you!
