James T. Vollmer

Jul 23, 1929 – Feb 19, 2011

Mr. James T. Vollmer, 81, passed away at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington on February 19, 2011.

He was born in Kenosha on July 23, 1929, the son of Robert and Lovina (nee: Nye) Vollmer. On September 9, 1950 he married Eleanor Hansen at Grace Lutheran Church in Racine.

Mr. Vollmer faithfully worked for Western Publishing, retiring after 39 years of service.  He also served his country with the National Guard.

Mr. Vollmer was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant.  In his earlier years he enjoyed the outdoors as a fisherman and hunter.  However, he was happiest when in the presence of his family, especially on the frequent trips to Disney World.

In addition to his loving wife, Eleanor, his survivors include his children, Thomas (Barbara) Vollmer of Interlachen, FL, David Vollmer of Altoona, WI, Ronald (Tammi Harmann) Vollmer and Barbara (Jeffrey) Barth both of Racine; 4 grandchildren, Marsha Brien of Darien, WI, Christopher (Jody) Vollmer of Sturtevant, Jessica (Samuel) Harrison and Jonathon Vollmer both of Eau Claire; 4 great grandchildren, Cheyenna, Tyler, Cody and Aiden; sister-in-law, Delores (Nick) Braun of Racine; brother-in-law, Fritz (Jaya) Hansen of Burlington; as well as numerous dear nieces, nephews.   He was preceded in death by his brother, George (Dorothy) Vollmer, sister, Eleanor (Jim) Rogers, and sister-in-law Kay Hansen.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Faith Lutheran Church (8500 Durand Ave. in Sturtevant) on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. for the celebration of his life and funeral service with Rev. Jeffrey Mortenson officiating.  His interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  There will be a visitation in the church of Thursday from 10-11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.

A very special thank you to Drs. Steve Welka and Gerald Demers, their staffs. and the entire staff at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington for the professional and loving attention Jim and his family received while he was under their care.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for making our father\’s funeral a beautiful celebration of his life. So many people commented that it was the best funeral they had ever attended! We can\’t say enough about Mark Langendorf\’s professionalism, his attention to detail, and ensuring that my father\’s funeral went smoothly from start to finish. After the funeral, he was always available for any questions and concerns my mother had. He handled all post-funeral details. Our dad would be very happy to know it went so well.Thank you so much, Mark.
