E. Wayne Hanson

Jan 11, 1929 – Apr 7, 2011

Kenosha – E. Wayne Hanson, 82, passed away at Kenosha Memorial Hospital on Thursday, April 7, 2011.  He was born in Marshfield, WI on January 11, 1929 to the late Harry and Emma (nee: Werket) Hanson. On August 13, 1949 he was married to Marie R. Bredl.  They then moved to Kenosha.

Wayne enjoyed a long and successful career at Aide, Inc. (now Quadra), retiring in 1991.  His special talents in tool-making enabled him to build many specialized manufacturing machines for prominent companies nationwide.  He was very handy, and especially proud of the house that he and Marie built themselves to raise their family.  Wayne enjoyed the camaraderie of snowmobiling and camping clubs, and the Wisconsin Antique Power and Collectibles Society of which he was a lifetime member.    Some of his fondest memories were made during his annual deer hunting trips with his sons and other family members, as well as the 2 trips he and Marie made to Alaska in their motor home.   During retirement he found great satisfaction in restoring an antique ’53 Ford Crestline.  Wayne was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather.  He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, friendly person who was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie; their children, Gary (Katie) Hanson of Union Grove, Karen (Norm) Mattson, and Mark (Kathy) Hanson both of Kenosha; grandchildren, Ann (Joe) Lininger, Jill (Matt) Lininger, Kurt (Beth) Mattson, Kelly (Randy) White, Jasmine (Jasen) Lohr, Jordan Hanson, and step-grandchildren, Kirsten May, and Kristian May, 4 great-grandchildren, (with one on the way); his sister, Muriel Bell of Marshfield, as well as by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was also preceded in death by his friend and brother-in-law, Zeno Bell.

The funeral mass for Wayne will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, Racine, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin at church at 9:30 a.m.  Contributions in Wayne’s memory to Ronald McDonald House Charities have been suggested.

Wayne’s family would like to thank the employees of Woodstock Health Care Facility for their compassionate care.

Wayne had a nature you could not help loving,
And a heart that was purer than gold,
And to those who knew him and loved him
His memory will never grow cold.

We love you guys and even through the miles, you are still near and dear to our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are here for you.

    Love,
    Janie and Dave

Testimonials

Sincere Gratitude

I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mike and the Draeger-Langendorf staff for such great service provided to us, as we made arrangements to lay our brother to rest. You all went above and beyond to make sure we understood every detail there was to know, from the greatest to the smallest. When we walked out of your office, we walked out with peace, knowing that our brother was in good hands. Thank you Mike for adding that special touch to my brother’s service, that’s the kind of stuff that separates you all from the rest. Once again Thank you so much.
