Doris Ann Nash-Veasey

Feb 11, 1953 – May 2, 2011

Racine- Doris Ann (nee: Turner) Nash – Veasey, 58, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 2, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born in Racine on February 11, 1953 to the late Vivian and Marcella (nee: Easley) Turner. She resided in Racine for over 39 years. Doris was employed at AMC/Chrysler for over 32 years retiring in November 2005. She was a member of UAW Local 72.

In 1971, Doris was united in holy matrimony to Kenneth Nash – of this union there were two children, a daughter and a son. In 1982, Doris met the love of her life, Velbert Veasey Jr., and to this union was born a son. In 1992, Doris and Velbert moved to Denver, CO with her job. They were united in marriage in 1998. Among her interests, she enjoyed talking about her God, spending time with family and trying her luck at the casino.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 30 years, Velbert; daughter, Nikesha (Cornelious) Gilliam; son, Naron Veasey, all of Racine; 5 grandchildren, Tyrell, Tyshell, Travon, Teven and Ticiana; great-grandson, Antonio;  brothers, Orlando Turner, Vivian Jr. (Cheryl) Turner, Steven (Dawn) Turner, all of Racine; and James (Janet) Polk of Cleveland Heights, OH; sisters, Debra Turner and Patricia (Robert) Billups, both of Racine; very special mother-in-law, Maxine Veasey of Menomonee Falls; sisters-in-law, Nicole Veasey, Carol Veasey and Sharon (Lamont) Hedwood; brother-in-law, Ezzard Thomas, all of Milwaukee; special friends, Evonne Simmons of Detroit, MI; Diane Johnson and Tammi Bumpus, both of Racine; Karl Romanowice of Menomonee Falls; Charlene Hill of Denver, CO; Sherry Singleton of Hampton, VA; God-children, Alisa Cameron and Teron Townsend; guardian angel, Mary Cornelious; her special “Boo”, Darrius Turner; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kenneth Nash Jr.; brother, Gregory Turner; and father-in-law, Velbert Veasey Sr.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street, on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 10 am with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am.

Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly made a difference in our overall experience.
