Richard Heyse

Aug 13, 1937 – Aug 25, 2011

Richard “Dick” Heyse, 74, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints on Thursday, August 25, 2011. Dick was born in Milwaukee on August 13 1937, the son of the late Paul and Gerda (nee: Nicolaus) Heyse. Dick moved from LaCrosse, WI to LaPorte, IN, 1969 where he lived until moving to Racine in 1979.

On October 20, 1984, in Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, he was united in marriage to the former Kathy Larson. Dick had been employed by Modine Mfg. for over 35 years, retiring in 2004 as Manufacturing Engineering Services Manager. He was a member of the Modine 20 Year Club, the LaPorte Jaycees, from 1969 until 1979, treasurer of the condo boards for the Pheasant Run and then the Pheasant Creek condo associations, past member of the South Shore Yacht Club, and a charter member of the Maritime Yacht Club. He held a pilot license, enjoyed sports car participating in rallies, fishing, camping and target shooting. Dick’s real passion was boating. Along with his wife they were boating every weekend.

Surviving are his wife, of nearly 27 years, Kathy; his children, Patricia (Pascal) Sandoz, of Prangins, Switzerland, and Richard “Rick” (Lisa) Heyse, of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Paul, Rachel and Preston Heyse; niece, Karen (Milton) Wright; great nephews, Andrew Lopez and Owen Wright, all of Lenexa, KS. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Elston and R. Gertrude Larson.

His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, August 30th at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. David L. Echelbarger officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In keeping with Dick’s wishes, cremation will follow.  Memorials can be made to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, the Hope Safe House or a charity of your choice.
