Maria Helena Serafin

Feb 1, 1923 – Aug 24, 2011

Waterville, Ohio – Maria H. Serafin, 88, passed away in Waterville, Ohio, on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.  Maria was born in Poland on February 1, 1923, daughter of the late Stanislaw and Franciszka (nee: Ryj) Brodzinski.

Maria came to Racine from Poland in May 1964 after high school and vocational school.  Maria’s husband, Tomasz “Tom” Serafin, preceded her in death on July 10, 2008.  The Serafins were members of St. Stanislaus church until its closing.  The Serafins then joined St. Sebastian Church in Sturtevant where they were very active members.  Maria was a fantastic seamstress and was employed by Badger Uniform.  She enjoyed egg decorating, beading, and making necklaces.   Maria also took great joy in the designing and making of ornaments for the miniature Christmas trees she made.

Maria is survived by her children, Z. Antoni (Susan) Serafin of Stevensville, MI, John (Jolanta) Serafin of Easley, SC, Grazyna (John) Elwell of Racine, and Krzysztof (Wendy) Serafin of Waterville, OH; grandchildren, Greg (Wendy) Serafin, Jeff (Heather) Serafin, Michelle (Robert) Derse, Samantha (Daniel) Blazewicz), Adam Serafin, Joseph Serafin; great-grandchildren Zachary, Connor, Corinn, Savannah, Morgan, Ian, and Emmaline.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126 95th Street, Sturtevant, on Saturday, September 3, 2011, with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the mass.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church or your favorite charity.

Maria's family is very grateful for the kindness, love, and caring shown by the wonderful staff of The Arbors at Waterville, Odyssey Hospice, and Hospice Advantage of Union Grove.  Their dedication, respect, and compassion will never be forgotten.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

My husband, Tom, died on Jan. 24, 2015. From that life-changing day and still now, Gary and his sons have been at my side taking care of me, advising me, and guiding me with their sensitive, caring, and efficient expertise. I have heard from friends and family how perfect and wonderful the funeral service was (it was a blur for me), and I have the beautiful obit, memorial booklets, CD rom of slide show, celebration candle, portrait, and even personalized thank you cards to provide memories and comfort during difficult days ahead. My heart is full of thanks and appreciation to Gary Langendorf and his entire family.
