Racine – Virgil J. Hargrove, 50, passed away at home in his wife’s arms on Saturday, December 3, 2011 after a short illness. He had very loving and supportive family and friends that would spend time with him on a daily basis. Virgil was a loveable, outgoing person who will be remembered by many as “the man who knew someone wherever he went and everyday was his birthday”. Virgil was born in Racine on February 12, 1961. He was a 1979 graduate of Washington Park High School and also graduated from the CNC program at Gateway Technical College. On October 10, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada he was married to Jennifer L. (nee: Maier) Cobb.

As a teenager he marched with the Kiltie Cadets from 1974-77 and then with the Kiltie Drum & Bugle Corps from 1977-81. Virgil worked at Chi-Chi’s and at Denny’s when he was a young man before attending Gateway Technical College. After graduating from the CNC program at Gateway, he enjoyed working at Pioneer Products from 1988-2008.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Jennifer Hargrove; his Parents, James and Mary (nee: Wicks) Hargrove; Mother-in-law, Paula Haag; Sister, Faye (Wilbur) Jones; Sisters-in-law, Brenda Hargrove, Ann Maier, Chris (Pete) Deschler, Karen (Don) Running, Denise (Keith) Beaudin, Roxie (Pat) Millhouse & Polly (Dewey) Lawrence; Brother-in-law, Wally (Roberta) Haag; Very Special Nieces and Nephews, Tomara and Twyla Gunn, Vonnell (Keisha) Carter, Ashley Hargrove, Deanna McNeal, Aaron Jones, Cortney Maier, Adam Maier, Peter and Alex Deschler; Great-Niece and Great-Nephew, Zionn Davis and Jayden Hargrove; along with many very special aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his Brother, Michael; Twin Sisters, Jean and Janice; Grandparents and other aunts, uncles and relatives.

We would like to extend a very special thank you to the family and friends who have supported us throughout this difficult time, as well as to Dr. James Santarelli and his staff, along with Hospice Alliance for their care and compassion. We could not have gotten through this challenge without all of your help.

Wow! What a shock. Jennifer, and Virgil’s family, we are so, so sorry for your loss as Virgil’s passing is a loss to us all. My very first thoughts were exactly what was written in the obituary – no matter where Virgil went he KNEW someone. And, I will always remember that every day was his birthday. What a sucking way to find out his real birthday! Please know that he is in our thoughts.

I had the pleasure of marching with Virgil in the Kiltie Kadets. Through the years we lost touch, but Virgil was the kind of man that makes a life long impact on you. Virgil, I love you brother, and you will be missed!!
