
Joseph L. Oliver, 71, was called Home by his Loving Savior on Saturday, December 10, 2011. He was born in Enterprise, MS on September 8, 1940, the son of the late Houston and Artis (nee: Williams) Oliver.
On February 2, 1960 he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Goodwin. Mr. Oliver had been employed by the J.I. Case Company for over 30 years until his retirement. For many years, Joe was the driver of the Case float in the 4th of July parade. He was a member of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Enterprise, MS. Mr. Oliver was a member of the Case 20 Year Club and the Local #180 Retirees. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, collecting coins, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Shirley of 51 years; his 4 beautiful daughters, Sandra Oliver, Alma Oliver, Debra Montague, all of Tacoma, WA, and Kiesha (Tony) Oliver-Hayes, of Glendale, WI: 6 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Cody Marsh; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Grace McMillian; 3 brothers, Roosevelt (Rebecca) Oliver, James (Marie) Oliver, and Robert Oliver, all of Racine. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
His Homegoing Service will be held in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, on Saturday, December 17th, at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Goodwin and Rev. David Green officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday, December 16th, from 5:OO p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
