Darrell Coleman

Apr 1, 1960 – Jan 3, 2012

Darrell Coleman, 51, affectionately known to many as “Uncle Darrell”, passed away on January 3, 2012. Darrell was born on April 1, 1960 to the late Clyde and Matilda Coleman. He graduated from Case High School, and completed two years of study at Howard University in Washington, DC. In the year of 1985, he was united in marriage to Lisa McWhorter.

Darrell was a jack of all trades and completed every task he set forth to complete without anyone being able to tell him any different. Darrell enjoyed his family and friends first, as well as cooking, being the “handy man” accommodating people from state to state. Darrell also had a special passion for music, playing instruments, drawing, driving, and was an avid Packer fan. Darrell will forever be remembered for his big unselfish heart.

Darrell leaves to cherish his daughters: Lashawnda Render of Florida, Valisa McWhorter Coleman, Valena Coleman, and Vallen Coleman of Racine; grandchildren, Courtney Tye of Florida , Isaiah McWhorter- Fulce, and Shaniyah K. Campbell; fiancé,  Mary Goldberg;  and special sons, Marquane Harris and Austin Goldberg. He also leaves to cherish brothers, Terron Coleman, Samuel Griffin, and Mark Coleman of Racine, and Jamie (Taylor) Greer of Minnesota; sisters, Rosemary Coleman, Angela (Earl) Booker, Robin (Sidney) Lawton, Carolyn Simmons , Sandy Bray of Washington DC, Phynell (John) Branch, Kari (Jimmie) Henderson, and Janice Robbins, all of Racine; aunt, Florence Barker, uncle, Archie Gandy of Racine; special nephew, Laquan Scott; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention by name.

He is preceded in death by both parents; brother, Gary Coleman; sister, Mottie Sanders; grandchild, Earnest Cosey III; paternal grandparents;  mother-in- law, Valerie McWhorter; sister- in-law,  Rita Coleman; great-nieces, Damia Greer, Jade Coleman, Miracle Scott; several paternal and maternal aunts and uncles.

A Home-going celebration will take place at Draeger- Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 3 pm, with Reverend  Hosea Mitchell and Minister William Zackery officiating. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date. Viewing will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 2 pm.

Mike Langendorf, my parents told me of your kindness, generosity, and servitude when we lost my brother. They needed that strength and your light came through. Thank you! Anne T.
