Lawrence F. Witt

Jun 24, 1924 – Mar 27, 2012

     Lawrence F. Witt, 87, passed away in the Becker-Shoop Center on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. He was born in Cadott, WI, on June 24, 1924, the son of the late Fred and Bertha (nee: Zillyette) Witt.

     On May 8, 1943, in Chippewa Falls, WI, he was united in marriage to the former Ione L. Burt, who preceded him in death on July 6, 1982. On December 23, 1985, he was united in marriage to the former Shirley M. Minnetti, who preceded him in death on July 29, 2008.

     Mr. Witt had been employed by the Mamco Corp. for over 37 years. He was a longtime president of the Mamco Sunshine Club, and an honorary member of the Distinctive Bowman. Mr. Witt enjoyed working on John Deere tractors, attending auctions, and loved his various trucks, rebuilding and painting them numerous times over the years.

      Surviving are his children, Leonard L. (Elizabeth) Witt, of Franksville, Judy A. Sukalski, of Fairmont, MN, Donald G. (Dale Orlowski) Witt, and Ronald (Bonnie) Witt, all of Racine; 9 grandchildren, Scott (Anita) Witt, Kurt (Niccole) Witt, Christopher (Rebecca) Witt, Lisa Nelson, Cindi ( Bruce) Roe, Larry (Wendy) Stedman, Carrie (Mark) Pettit, Dana (Brad) Kiecker, and Darrin (Angie) Sukalski;  22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Anderson, of Chippewa Falls, Violetta Jantz, of Kenosha, Joyce Stark, of Carpentersville, IL; sister-in-law Monica Witt, of Kenosha WI.   His nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. In addition his wives and parents, Mr. Witt was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Robert, and Leon, and his sisters Bernice, Irene, and Odetta.

      His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, March 31st, at 11:00 a.m. , with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
