Michaeleen Pier

Oct 1, 1945 – Apr 29, 2012

Racine – Michaeleen A. (nee: Krepelan) Pier, 66, affectionately known as “Micki”, passed away  peacefully comforted by  family at Aurora Medical Center – Kenosha on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

A lifetime resident, Micki was born in Racine on October 1, 1945 to the late Michael and Elizabeth (nee: Vassh) Krepelan. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1963. On September 23, 1967 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Victor R. Pier.

Catholic by faith, Micki was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. In recent years, she attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Born with a tireless work ethic, Micki was Vice-President of Despins and Associates Plumbing, the family business that she owned and operated along with her husband, Vic, and son, Steve.

Micki was currently serving as President of the Racine/Kenosha Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Association.  She dedicated much of her free time to family and friends; offering guidance, support, companionship and love. Micki had a gift for gardening and landscaping. She loved to be outside planting and watching the birds. She also created calendars for her family using pictures taken during trips, family celebrations, and fantastic times with her granddaughters.

Surviving are her loving husband of over 44 years, Vic; their sons, David (Tiana Pardini) Pier of San Diego, CA and Steven (Nicole) Pier of Racine; cherished granddaughters, Jordan, Ella, Evan and Keaton; sisters, Elizabeth (Dennis) Durik, Cecelia Krepelan and Jamie (Scott) Buss; brothers-in-law, John (Sue) Pier and Mark Pier; sister-in-law, Kathy (Steve) Christensen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents, Micki was preceded in death by her beloved son Michael Pier; and by Vic’s parents, Robert and Eleanor Pier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am. In memory of Micki, memorials to Susan G. Komen Organization have been suggested.

A special note of thanks to Dr. Michael P. Mullane and Aurora Medical Center ICU Nursing staff for the compassionate care and support given to Micki. May God bless all of you!

I wanted to express my condolensences to the entire Pier family. Micki was a strong, hardworking, and loving woman. She definitely was great role model for me back in high school. My heart goes out to all of you.

Micki and I were neighborhood friends on Ashland Avenue. I am so sorry to hear of her passing just now…. I often think of our fun times growing up, two doors away from one another. Will always remember how great your family was, always helping out during snowstorms, slivers, or attempts at homemade dandelion wine. So many good memories. Micki and I played Monopoly one entire summer on the front porch right next to beautiful snapdragons and hollyhocks. To “Ceci” and “Bethy,” take care during this sad time.

Testimonials

Joan Schrader and family

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him. Thank you also Mike for singing at her funeral, especially her favorite song, Amazing Grace. Thank you and all of your staff at Draeger-Langendorf.
