Irene May Dell

Jul 22, 1922 – May 11, 2012

Racine– Irene May (nee: Clark) Dell, 89, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center, on Friday, May 11, 2012.

Irene was born in Escanaba, MI on July 22, 1922 to the late Thomas and Mabel (nee: Dupuis) Clark. On June 12, 1943 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Andrew Dell, who preceded her in death on September 20, 2010.

Irene was employed at Hamilton Beach until 1951, when she resigned to become a full-time housewife. She was a faithful member of St. Lucy Catholic Church.

Irene was an extremely talented seamstress. She made nearly all the clothing worn by her and Dick throughout their lives. Irene also reupholstered furniture and lovingly sewed for her entire family. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her beloved husband; and spending time with her family – especially her nieces and nephews.

Surviving are her brothers, John (Sandy) Clark and Harold (Marilyn) Clark; sister-in-law, Marietta Clark; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, James and Robert Clark; sister-in-law, Helen (Howard) Weber; and by Dick’s parents, Andrew and Mary (nee: Banko) Dlhopolcek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 6:00 pm in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. A reception will follow. Private interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 5-6 pm. In memory of Irene, memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church have been suggested.

A special note of thanks to the entire staff of Wheaton Franciscan; and to Irene’s devoted neighbor, Jane Vogt, for the outstanding care and support given in her time of need. May God bless all of you!

October 22, 2015

I would like to thank Bob and the entire staff for helping me through a very difficult situation. Having lost my mother and having to plan her services was very hard but Bob helped me every step of the way. And the service was beautiful. Thanks again for everything.
