Theresa Martha Wirag

Feb 6, 1940 – May 13, 2012

Racine – Theresa Martha Wirag, 72, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, May 13, 2012.  She was born in Hungary on February 6, 1940, daughter of the late Karl and Katherine (nee: Hosster) Schmidt.

Theresa was united in marriage to the love of her life, Josef Wirag, on April 24, 1965, at St. Catherine’s Church in Milwaukee.  Josef preceded her in death on September 7, 1991.

Theresa graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in 1958.  She worked by her husband’s side with the tailoring business helping him with the bookkeeping.  She was also a loving homemaker who loved to cook and work in the garden.  She took pride in her gardening and always had the best lawn on the block.  She will be dearly missed by her entire family.

Theresa leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Joe (Tammy) Wirag of Stoughton, Karl (Jamie Stearns) Wirag of Madison, Kadi (Mike) DeRose of Racine, Marilee (Mark Jerich) Wirag of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Jacob Wirag, Katlynn Wirag, Maggie Jo Wirag, Hannah Wirag, Briana Wirag, Brady Wirag; brother, Karl (Betty) Schmidt of Milwaukee; cousin, Theresa Hosster; special friends and neighbors, Mel (Gayle) Baran of Racine, favorite feline companion, Cordial; and other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 18, 2012, 11am, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating.  Visitation will be from 9am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wirag family have been suggested.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike and the staff went above and beyond during our very difficult time with passing of our Opa. Mike helped relieve the immense stress by being extremely professional, paying attention to the smallest details and the overall kindness and compassion in caring for our family at our time of need. We do not believe that a thank you truly covers our deep gratitude towards you. Thank you for everything you have done for us.
