Betty Lou Larsen

Mar 8, 1926 – Jun 8, 2012

Racine– Betty Lou (nee: Stevens) Larsen, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 8, 2012.

Betty was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on March 8, 1926 to the late Roy and Bessie (nee: Fessenden) Stevens, Sr.  On November 20, 1942 she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Christian “Chris” Peter Larsen. They would have celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary later this year.

Although Betty dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker, she had been employed by Western Publishing, Turnstyle and Feige’s Clothing Store. With a profound Christian faith, Betty was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kenosha. As an extremely talented seamstress, she enjoyed sewing (without the use of patterns) on her 1968 Singer machine. Betty also enjoyed crocheting. Above all, being in the surroundings of her entire family was what made her happiest.

Surviving are her loving husband, Chris; their children, Randy Larsen, Terry (Kay) Larsen, Duwayne (Ann) Larsen and Julie Lema; grandchildren, Sunday (Jody) Muniz, Grant (Miklia) Larsen, Verity Larsen, Dale Larsen, Troy Larsen, Jon Connelly and Karl Sylvester; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Andrew Sylvester; Alec, Mitchell and MacKenzie Muniz; D.J., Brandon and Layken Larsen; Emma and Benjamin Connelly; Johanna, Thomas and Ian Larsen; sister, Dorothy Hamberg; brother, Roy (Bernice) Stevens Jr.; sister-in-law, Ellen Olson; brother-in-law, Alvin (Beverly) Larsen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Edward “Eddie” Lema; granddaughter, Cortney Connelly; brothers, Clyde “Bud” and Clifford Stevens; sisters, Ruth (Harry) Mathis, Herschel (Ruth Ann) Stevens and Kitty (Ole) Stephenson; and sisters-in-law, Virginia (Jim) Hantschel and Edith (Andrew) Nielsen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church – Somers (1520 Green Bay Road in Kenosha). Interment will follow in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:30 – 8:00 pm and in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the entire staff at Odyssey Hospice; to family friends, Ann Gibbs and Tony Turcotte; and especially to her son, Randy Larsen, for the dedicated care and support given in Betty’s time of need. Also, many thanks to the Calvary Baptist Church family for all their prayers .  May God bless all of you!
