
Racine – Oliver D. Story, Sr., passed away unexpectedly at WFH All Saints Hospital on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the age of 80 years. He was born in Ripley, Mississippi on July 7, 1932, son of the late Cleve and Jennie (nee: Simelton) Story. On August 27, 1954 he was united in marriage to Orine Simmons in Ripley. He had been a Racine area resident since 1960. Mr. Story retired from Belle City/Racine Steel Castings after more than 30 years of service. He also worked for 30 years in the Environmental Services Department at St. Mary’s Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Orine Story; his sons, Oliver C. Story, Jr., and Jim Story; brothers and sisters, Lawyer (Mary) Story, Freddie Hue Story, Mary (Elder Walter) Hughlett, Evone Story, and Linda (Richard) Wade; mother-in-law, Johnnie Simmons; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gregory, Mary Weatherspoon, Vallie (Walter) Rogers, Lorene Story, Deborah Cobb, William (Ruth) Simmons, John Simmons, and Maryetta Story; uncle, Clyde Lee (Bernice) Simelton; aunts, Elaine Simelton, Dorothy Simelton, Annette McDonald, and Betty Simmons; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by sister, Joanne Story; and brothers, William Story, Ellis Story, Troy Story, John Story, and Charlie Story.
Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. All are invited to gather in the church for visitation on Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
