Racine – Cathlene Sandra Olson, 68, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, August 6, 2012. She was born in Racine on October 6, 1943, daughter of the late Carl and Rosemary (nee: Dillard) Christensen. On September 9, 1964, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leigh David Olson.
Cathy graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1961 and attended Prospect Hall Secretary School in Milwaukee. She was employed in the customer service department at S.C. Johnson until she retired in 2005. Cathy loved to cook and shared her love with others by preparing a simple snack, home cooked meal or dinner for 60. She faithfully volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Racine Catholic Food Pantry to help feed the hungry in the area.
Cathy enjoyed curling and was a member of the Racine Curling Club for over 30 years. She played in several women’s golf leagues at Johnson Park Golf Course. She enjoyed bowling and played a few times a week in leagues for the past 25 years. Cathy could also be found reading, playing bridge or enjoying live performances and trips to New York with the Racine Theatre Guild. Above all, Cathy loved her family dearly and spoiled her grandchildren rotten. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Cathy leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of almost 48 years, Leigh Olson of Racine; children, Lance Olson of Oconto, Christina (Robert) Biggs of Evanston, IL; grandchildren, Nolan Olson, Alexis Olson, Gabriel Biggs, Sebastian Biggs, Liliana Biggs; brother, Carl (Julie) Christensen of Maplewood, MN; other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends too numerous to mention.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, August 12, 2012, 3pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of the service. All attending are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the local food pantry. Memorials have been suggested to St. Vincent De Paul Racine Catholic Food Pantry or to the Racine Curling Club.
