Richard Eugene Schlichting

Jan 21, 1935 – Nov 13, 2012

Racine – Richard Eugene Schlichting, 77, received the promise of eternal life on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.  He was born in Little Falls, MN, on January 21, 1935, son of the late Joseph and Helen (nee: Cole) Schlichting.

Dick was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia (nee: Czosnek) Schlichting, on October 31, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Racine.

Dick attended St. Catherine’s High School.  He and his brother, Don, owned and operated Schlichting Sewer and Water for many years.  Dick was an avid fisherman.  He took many trips over the years including annual trips to Michigan with his buddies.  A lover of slot machines, Dick enjoyed spending time and money in the casinos.  Dick was an avid bowler in his earlier years.  He and his three boys share a special bond, all of them have a 300 game under their belt.  Above all, Dick loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.  He and Pat were nearly always together.  Dick will be dearly missed.

Dick leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 59 years, Pat Schlichting of Racine; children, Dan (Cindy) Schlichting of Murrayville, GA, Dennis (Jean) Schlichting, Robin (Gary) Newman, Joey (Melissa) Schlichting, all of Racine; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren (with the seventh on the way); sister, Darlene (Bill) Olson of Green Bay; sister-in-law, Shirley Schlichting of Racine; brother-in-law, Lawrence Czosnek of Arena; and other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.  In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his brother, business partner, and best friend, Don Schlichting.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Sunday, November 18, 2012, 3pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of the service.  According to Dick’s wishes, cremation will follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the family.
