Jessie Elijah Sewell

Jan 9, 1944 – Jan 6, 2013

Franksville – Jessie Elijah Sewell, age 68, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at his home on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

Jessie was born in Swan Lake, Mississippi on January 9, 1944 – the 17th of 18 children to Curly and Lennie (nee: Dickson) Sewell. Jessie was anointed in God in Christ at an early age at Lone Star Holy Spiritual Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Brown. He attended Marshall High School in Chicago, IL. In October of 1974, he was united in marriage with Pamela “Pam” Ann (nee: Williams).

With a tireless work ethic, Jessie was employed by AMC / Chrysler for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. He loved to hunt, fish, shoot pool and spending time with family & friends – of whom he loved and enjoyed.

Surviving are his loving wife, Pamela; children, Jessie Butler, Sandy Jones, Jeffrey Sewell and Jamey Sewell; grandchildren, Destiny Sewell, Dustin Christman and Dylan Pickard; great-granddaughter, Giselle AnnaLee Bates; brother, Earl Sewell; sister, Minnie Franklin; special nephew, Revell White; special niece, Dorothy Robinson; Pam’s step-mom, Helena Williams; brother-in-law, Del Husman; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends – too numerous to mention by name.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, Curly and Lennie Sewell; son, Donnie Pickard in 2000; Pamela’s parents, Frank and Lee Williams; and sister-in-law, Patti Husman.

In accordance with Jessie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service celebrating Jessie’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 pm.
