Bernice B. Davis

Mar 30, 1924 – Jan 7, 2013

Racine – Bernice B. Davis, 88, surrounded by her family, was called to heaven on Monday, January 7, 2013.  She was born on March 30, 1924, daughter of the late Martin and Lucy (nee: Scholzen) Grellinger.  A lifelong resident of Racine, she was a 1943 graduate of St. Catherines’s High School.  On November 4, 1944 in St. Edward’s Catholic Church she was united in holy matrimony to Norman J. Davis of Davenport, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on February 16, 1991.

Bernice enjoyed a lifetime of service to others. She was active in volunteer programs through R.S.V.P. and W.I.N.G.S; and tutored at Winslow and Giese elementary schools.  In 1988 she earned her associate degree in human services, and shortly after began her work as a teacher at SC Johnson Wax Child Care Center.  Bernice was a faithful member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where she was active in many ministries.

She is survived by her children, John (Lee) Davis, Helen (John) Therkelsen, Jacqueline Boudreau, and Michele (Jeffery) Davis-Porter; daughter-in-law Tina Davis; son-in-law Daniel Boudreau; grandchildren John Davis, Larry Davis, Marty (Kristin) Davis, Jessica Davis, Shelly Davis, Thomas Davis, John Therkelsen, Jason (Joann) Therkelsen, Daniel Boudreau II, and Jessica (Kevin) Schramm; 15 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Martin Davis; and her stepmother, Elizabeth Grellinger.

The funeral mass for Bernice will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia.  Visitation in the church will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Memorials to St. Catherine’s High School, or St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church have been suggested.

Testimonials

November 13, 2019

I just can’t get over how beautiful everything was for my mom’s funeral. She had a rough last four weeks but your amazing team totally did her justice! I was pretty confused during that hard time, but Brian, you made sure that all the “I”s were dotted and all the “T”s crossed. For that, I thank you. I also would like to thank the amazing team of makeup artists. My mom looked beautiful.

Dawn
