James "Jimmy" John Garski

Aug 11, 1950 – Mar 9, 2013

RACINE – Jimmy Garski, 62, passed away at WFH – All Saints on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

He was born in Racine on August 11, 1950, the son of the late Frank and Esther (nee: Zielinski) Garski.  Jimmy graduated from Washington Park High School in 1969 and was the first in his family to graduate from college at UW Whitewater in 1973.  A few years later he moved to Arizona and worked for Garrett Air Research (Honeywell) until an early retirement.  After he retired he moved back to Racine.

Jimmy found much joy and pleasure in his paintings, reading, traveling and trips to casinos as well as New York and Chicago for the theater.  He was happiest however when in the company of his family.

His survivors include his sisters; Grace Brock, Lorraine Mucinskas both of Racine, Mary Ann (Don) Owen of Kenosha, Sandra (Bill) Lowery of Point Marion, PA, Carol (Mark) Culotta, Suzanne Fortier both of Racine; his brothers, Richard (Jenny) Garski of Kenosha, Frank Garski of Tempe, AZ, Eugene (Rosemary) Garski of Racine, Michael (Brenda) Garski of Chandler, AZ; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.   He will also be missed by numerous extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Patricia, Raymond and Chester Garski.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. for a visitation and opportunity to meet his family.  The celebration of his life and funeral Mass will take place at St. Edward Catholic Church (1425 Grove Ave., Racine) on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating.  There will also be a visitation in the church on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  His interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia will follow the Mass.  Memorials have been suggested to the American Kidney Foundation or to one’s favorite charity.

The Family of Barbara Bell

Michael,

First, let me start out by saying you were a God sent working with me for many years in preparations for my mom’s Homegoing Celebration December 7, 2024. Even though this was our first time meeting in person, I felt like I already knew you. Michael, you demonstrated professionalism, empathy and, your warmth was surprising for me considering your role as a Funeral Director. Your attention to every detail, patient and support has made this process much easier for my family and me. I trusted you and you helped me find closure in a moment of great sadness, and for that we’re eternally grateful. I appreciate the time and energy you put into ensuring everything ran smoothly considering I reside in a different state. Michael, my mom would have loved you and our family is forever grateful for your unwavering dedication and support during our season of grief. May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. (Numbers 6:25)
