David Charles Nelsen

Jul 19, 1958 – Apr 13, 2013

Racine – David Charles Nelsen, 54, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, April 13, 2013.  He was born in Racine on July 19, 1958, son of Robert and Derelys (nee: Neindorf) Nelsen.

Dave loved the outdoors.  He took part in hunting of all kinds and also enjoyed boating.  Dave was a lover of motorcycles, especially Harley Davidson bikes.  He was an amateur mechanic and could often be found fixing cars.  Dave enjoyed drag racing at Great Lakes Dragaway in his younger days.

Dave leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Vanessa and Erica Nelsen, both of Racine; grandchildren, Althea Theriault, Ethan David Capobianco, Evan James Nelsen, all of Racine; father, Robert (Bunny) Nelsen of Racine; Bunny’s son, Gordon (Loretta) Olson; sister, Sandy (Robin) Furney of Florida; brother, Donald (Lisa) Nelsen of Georgia; friend and former wife, Debra (David) VandenBranden of Racine; their daughter, Leah VandenBranden; and other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention.  Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Derelys Nelsen; step-father, Robert Vilt; and step-brother, Steve Olson.

The family has planned a celebration of Dave’s life to take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013, 2:00pm, at Greg’s Catering, 3120 Roberts Road, Franksville.

Grief never ends, but it changes.
It is a passage, not a place to stay.
The sense of loss must give way
if we are to value the life that was lived.
