Helen Rowlands

Nov 19, 1925 – Mar 18, 2013

Racine – Helen Rowlands, 87, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, March 18, 2013.  She was born in Racine on November 19, 1925, daughter of the late Arson and Mary (nee: Vartanian) Katibian.

Helen was united in marriage to the love of her life, William Rowlands, on August 30, 1947.  William preceded her in death on March 10, 2009.

Helen is a graduate of Park High School.  She worked for many years as a bank teller for various banks in Racine.  She eventually retired as a data entry clerk for J.I. Case.  Helen was a former member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church.  Helen enjoyed travelling, especially casino trips.  Above all, she treasured her family and will be dearly missed.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Bruce Rowlands of Racine; granddaughter, Jennifer Rowlands of Racine; sister, Margaret (Jack) Marshall of Neshkoro; brother, Peter (Joan) Katibian of Racine; former daughter-in-law, Gayle Rowlands; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives too numerous to mention.

A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2013, 12:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Interment will take place on Monday, June 10, 2013, 12:00pm, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Dover.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the staff of the Becker Shoop Center, Allay Hospice, and Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for the wonderful care that they gave to Helen.
