Kathie Ann Glenzer

Dec 10, 1943 – Dec 27, 2014

RACINE – Kathie A. (nee: Harris) Glenzer 71, died on December 27, 2014 after a battling heart and lung disease which had taken a turn for the worse over the last five weeks.

She was born in Columbus Ohio on December 10th, 1943.  Kathie Graduated from St. Joseph Academy high school, Columbus, Ohio in 1961.  She was employed with the City of Racine as police dispatcher for over 32years.

A devoted wife for 39 years to Roy R. Glenzer and devoted mother, step-mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Tragically, Kathie lost an infant son in 1966, and lost her adult daughter Melissa Decker in 2009.  Kathie dealt with those losses with strength and grace and stepped in to care for Melissa’s three children.

Kathie was a caring mother, step mother and grandmother.  She took pride in teaching her children and grandchildren the importance of good manners and social graces.  Kathie was a loving and social person.  She made friends easily with anyone she came into contact with and was the life of the party in any gathering.  She enjoyed estate sales, loved her pets particularly her little dog Sassy, and most of all loved being the person her husband Roy and her grandchildren Andrew, A.J. and Alissa relied on.  Kathie’s spirit can best be described as fun, witty and exuberant!  She believed life was short and the most important thing was to enjoy every moment.  She relished the journey and was never preoccupied with the destination.  She embraced her Irish Heritage and indicated her husband and step-children joined her in that blessing as she considered them to be Irish by Marriage.  Kathie was predeceased by her parents John Howard and Lucille Harris of Columbus Ohio.

She is survived by her husband Roy R. Glenzer of Racine; grandchildren Andrew Decker, A.J. Decker and Alissa Decker of Racine.  Her Step-daughters Kelly (Bob Mould) Glenzer-Mould of Racine, Kimberly Glenzer of Rochester, N.Y., Kerry Glenzer of Racine; and many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother and sister in-law Jack and Jane Harris of Jacksonville Florida, her brother-in-law and sister in-law Ronald and Doris Glenzer of San Diego, California and numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial celebrating her life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. A visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11:30 a.m.  Her interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Irish Blessing

May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now,
And bless you ever more.

I am sadden to hear of your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you all in this time of grief. When I was younger I used to stay with Kathie, Roy and Missy when my parents went on vacations and as life took Missy and I in and out of each others lives we always got back in touch somehow. I always thought of Kathie as my second mom. Kathie and Missy (like mother, like daughter)always made me feel like we could pick up where we left off, like I was part of the family. Kathie was always so much fun, full of life and boy did we have some laughs thru the years! I will miss them both but I have peace in knowing that Kathie and Missy are together again in heaven. I have great memories of the times I did get to spend with Kathie and Missy and I will cherish them forever. I know that God needed another Angel and that is why he picked you. Rest in peace Kathie until we meet again!

    Memories and Friendship,

    Karyn (Heegeman) Dexter

Testimonials

Thank you for an exceptional service for our mother – Juan Munoz

My siblings and I recently had the unfortunate experience of having to plan a funeral for our beloved mother – Juana Munoz. During this difficult time, we were fortunate enough to come across a funeral home that truly went above and beyond what was expected. Their attention to detail and dedication to ensuring our comfort and safety throughout the entire process was truly remarkable.

From the moment we stepped foot into the funeral home, we were greeted with warmth and compassion. The staff members, but specifically Mark was incredibly understanding and empathetic, making us feel at ease during such a challenging time. Mark took the time to listen to our needs and wishes, and his guidance and support were invaluable.

One aspect that truly stood out was Mark’s meticulous attention to detail. He paid close attention to every aspect of the funeral arrangements, ensuring that nothing was overlooked. From the floral arrangements to the music selection, every detail was carefully considered and executed flawlessly. Mark even noticed that the temperature in the room was getting warm and promptly adjusted it to ensure our comfort.

What impressed me the most was their commitment to our safety. Mark and his team took every precaution to ensure that our family and guests were protected throughout the entire process. From the funeral home to the cemetery, Mark made sure that all safety measures were in place, including providing hand sanitizers, and even arranging for additional staff members to assist with crowd control.

Furthermore, Mark’s professionalism and organization was evident in every aspect of the funeral service. He coordinated seamlessly with the cemetery staff, ensuring a smooth transition from the funeral home to the final resting place. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly made a difference in our overall experience.

In addition to their exceptional service, the funeral home also provided us with resources and support beyond the funeral itself. They offered grief counseling services and connected us with local support groups, which proved to be invaluable during our grieving process.

Overall, we cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional service provided by Mark and broader Draeger Langendorf team. Their attention to detail, commitment to our safety, and genuine compassion made a difficult time a little more bearable. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of funeral arrangements, as they truly go above and beyond to ensure that every detail is taken care of and that families are supported throughout the entire process.

– Epifanio and The Munoz Family
