Delores Dorothy Anderson

Dec 28, 1948 – Feb 5, 2015

Racine – Delores Dorothy (nee: Weisensel) Anderson; age 66; passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Delores was born in Columbus, WI on December 28, 1948 to the late Verian and Helene (nee: Jaje) Weisensel. The family moved to Madison before coming to Racine in 1962. A 1967 graduate of William Horlick High School, Delores was employed by Wisconsin Bell, Villa St. Anna, St. Mary’s Home Care, Lincoln Lutheran and the Alpha Homes. However, she was a proud and tireless homemaker for most of her life. On November 11, 1972 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Ralph Lee Anderson, Jr. – who preceded her in death on October 5, 2002.

Delores was a longtime active and devoted member of St. Lucy Catholic Church where she was involved in the annual festival and spent more hours than anyone could ever imagine….helping families in need, serving as chairperson of the St. Lucy Food Pantry for many years. Delores was also a member of Friends of Seniors. She was passionate about volunteering especially through the local Skill Bank. Delores was truly a people person who loved to visit those who needed visiting. When she wasn’t working, volunteering or helping others…she enjoyed ceramics, sewing, painting, crafts and tending to her tea-cup poodle, Velvet. Above all, she was happiest when in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her children, Mark (Jennifer) Anderson and Erica (Benjamin) Dorval; adored grandchildren, Cole, Mason and Lana Anderson; Barrett and Carlton Dorval; sisters, Jeanine (Steve) McGrath and Sally (Don) Witte; brothers, Denis (Sue) Weisensel and David (Rebecca) Weisensel; sisters-in-law, Cathy Weisensel and Patricia (Glen) Rittgers; brother-in-law, Harry (Sue) Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Delores was preceded in death by her brother, Keneth Weisensel; and by Ralph’s parents, Ralph and Helen (nee: Lambert) Anderson, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11:00 am in St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Avenue) with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. A life celebration luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm and in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am. In memory of Delores, memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church has been suggested.

A special note of thanks to the dedicated staff of Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints ICU for the compassionate care and support given in Delores’ time of need. May God bless all of you!

Our Memorial to “Mom”

Our family wants to thank Mike and the staff of Draeger-Langendorf for their compassion and caring in the death of our mother. They attended to every detail with such professionalism and made this difficult time so much easier by unburdening us of all that needs to be done with the arrangements. We all felt that there was nothing more they could have been done. It was perfect. We can now go forward with the memories that we hold in our hearts of mom and know that we provided the best possible service by choosing Draeger-Langendorf.
