Jan 9, 1937 – Feb 16, 2015

Racine – Norvan Duane Thompson; age 78; passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center and was called to his Heavenly Home by his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, February 16, 2015.

Norvan was born in Knoxville, Iowa on January 9, 1937 to the late Delbert and Helen (nee: Peck) Thompson. The Thompson family moved to Wisconsin when Norvan was a child.

On July 15, 1957 in Dubuque, Iowa he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Judith Joan (nee: Jorgensen). With a tireless work ethic, Norvan was employed as a machinist at Twin Disc for over 30 years – retiring in 1995.

With tremendous Christian faith, Norvan was a proud member of Parkway Apostolic Church in Oak Creek. He was a talented master plasterer who was forever lending a helping hand to family & friends with home improvement projects. His passion was singing and every family gathering included a special time of singing together around the piano.  He also enjoyed golfing and traveling until his eyesight began to fail. Above all, Norvan was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather who cherished the times spent with his entire family.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 57 years, Judy; their children, Norvan (Joy) Thompson, Mindy (John) Engibous and Randy (Connie) Thompson; grandchildren, Corey (Jennifer) Thompson, Brianna (Michael) Schurrer, Benjamin (Tonya) Thompson, Matthew (Dana) Engibous, Tiffany (Castenzio) Venegas, Jennifer Thompson, Lyndsey Thompson and Robert Thompson; great-grandchildren, Allison & Wyatt Thompson; Levi Schurrer; Jackson & Bensyn Thompson; Riley, Callie & Kenzie Engibous; brother, Calvin Thompson; brother-in-law, Howard (Shirley) Jorgensen, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Janelle Thompson, Jeanette Wang, Joyce Michel, Grace Jorgensen and Sharon (Richard) Thompson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends-too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to his parents, Norvan was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard Thompson; sister-in-law, Beulah Thompson; brothers-in-law, Robert “Buzzy” Wang and Larry Michel; and by Judy’s parents, Howard and Elfrieda (nee: Stuedemann) Jorgensen, Sr.

Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Anthony Tamel officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Private interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park.

Special thanks to Mike Langendorf….many tears of joy overwhelm the family. You are a very unique person.  I cry because you know how to make the best out of any situation. You lay my husband away beautifully and there are not words that I can really express how grateful I am. All the people at your funeral have my gratitude for the love and care you showed us.   You all are truly God fearing people who care about people.  Thanks and may God bless you all richly!   The Coleman’s
