
Jim Therapos, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20, 2015. He was born in Karya on the Island of Lefkada, Greece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spyantonis and Antigoni (nee: Mpoursinou) Therapos, and his brother, Nikolaus. Jim moved to Chicago at the age of 18 and had a lifelong love for the culinary arts. He enjoyed fishing, cooking for family and friends, and living life to its fullest (OPA!). He will always be remembered as being generous and kindhearted.
Surviving are the love of his life, Jennifer Alwin; stepson, Timothy Alwin (fiancée: Jessica Hart); sister in law, Dina Therapos; mother-in-law, Carol Maholias; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carla (Bryan) Lomax, Colleen Maholias, and David Maholias; nephews, nieces, many cousins and family members, both here and in Greece, as well as his two doggies, Roxy and Bailey.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23rd from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones leading a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Father John Ketchem of the Greek Church will lead a short prayer service at 5:00. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Countryside Humane Society.

He was a good friend, and though we didn’t see each other often – I feel so sad to learn of this news.
