
~~David J. Kirk, Jr. was born on June 2, 1950 to the union of David Kirk, Sr. and Merida Price Kirk in Meridian, Mississippi. He received his formal education in the Racine Unified School System, graduating from William Horlick High School. He also attended Gateway Technical College, where he received an Associate of Arts degree in Culinary Arts.
David accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. David truly loved the Lord and was a man after God’s own heart. As an adult he became a Licensed Evangelist and Ordained Deacon in the Church. He was an active member of St. Paul Baptist Church and the Deacon Board, until his health began to fail.
In 1974, David was united in Marriage to Lura L.Turner until her death in 1996. Later on June 7th, 1997 David was united in Marriage to Rosalie A. Reed. Together they have six children.
David joined the Navy on June 16, 1970 and received an Honorable discharge on June 18th 1972. David was an excellent chef and was employed by the Holiday Inn of Racine, as Chef, retiring in 1999 due to poor health.
David loved to cook and to sing in the Choir. He had a beautiful bass voice. His favorite song was “Yes, God Is Real” which he sang as solo many times. Frequently at Family viewings, David would begin singing Gospel songs as a means to comfort family during their time of loss.
David departed this life on May 29, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his father David Kirk, Sr. His sister Lottie Bell Kirk, 1 Brother Zeke Kirk, previous wife Lura Kirk and step-father William C, Griffie. David is survived by his mother, Mrs. Merida Kirk-Griffie. His wife of 19 years, Rosalie A. Kirk, Children: Daughters: Vanissa Kirk of Ferguson Mo., DeAnna Ford, Anita Aguillard and Aimee Reed all of Racine WI. Sons: Tyrone Kirk of Kansas City, MO. And Craig Burnett of Houston, Texas, Sisters: Diana Hines of Racine, WI and Min. Evelyn Kirk of Rochester, New York, Brother: Willie James Kirk of Racine, WI Special Grandchildren: Amari and Christopher Kirk of Ferguson, MO, and Skylar Reed and Javin Reed-Clark, Emani Johnson, Jasmine Reed, Hallee Martin, Noah Ford, Brenton Burnett, Corbin Burnett, and Michael Burnett all of Racine Wisconsin. 2 Aunts: Louella Price of Racine and Nancy Cole of Hattiesburg, MS, 1 Uncle Willie Kirk of Chicago, Ill; Nieces: Karla(Marvin)Fitch of Indianapolis, Ind., Schnika Fitch of Milwaukee, Wi, Colbie Hamilton of NY City, NY, DeAndrea Woods of Racine, Nephew Chauncey Hamilton of Rochester, NY. Special friends: Vivian and Michael Shields, Faye and Eddie Willis and Marshall E. Tharpe. David is further survived by many other Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends too numerous to name.
When remembering David: please remember that David stood firm on his belief and love of God!

A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 11:00am at St. Paul Misssionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center St. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service. Burial will take place on Friday, June 10th at Southern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove at 12:00 moon. Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby wil be officiating the service.
