Julie’s Personal Touch

Racine – Vivian Marie Ellingham, 94, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Thursday, October 13, 2016. She was born in Beloit on October 26, 1921, daughter of the late Louis and Grace (nee: Lamphere) Gates.

After graduating from Park High School in 1939, Vivian worked for a time at the Oster Company. On September 5, 1942 she was married in Holy Innocents Episcopal Church to Emery F. Ellingham. After her children were grown, Vivian began working as a teacher’s assistant at the Racine Montessori School and remained there for more than 15 years. She was always active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was quite proud of the fact that during her time volunteering at the hospital she crocheted 100’s of tiny caps for the babies in the nursery.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Gene) Medley of Delavan; son, David (Susan) Ellingham of Mt. Pleasant; Grandchildren Jenine Ward, Christopher and Jonathan Ellingham; great-grandchildren Nick and Morgan Ward; as well as other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgewood Care Center for their outstanding support and care.  We would like to collect gently used adult clothing for the residents of Ridgewood at the funeral home during visitation.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2016 with Rev. Robert Lambert officiating. Visitation from 2:00 pm – 3:00pm. Interment at West Lawn Memorial Park will be private.
