Racine – Joseph Michael Ahles, 74, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, April 23, 2017. He was born in Racine on October 16, 1942, son of the late Francis and Pearl (née: Kopsie) Ahles.

Joseph was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Sandra Sigwart, on September 11, 1977. Sandra preceded him in death on February 11, 2002.

Joe was a tool and die maker for Danfloss Fluid Power for 30 years until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of IAM Local #437.

Joe was a car hobbyist. He enjoyed going to several car shows every week and was especially proud of his 1956 Chevrolet Belair Convertible. He enjoyed working on small engines and started his own business, Joe’s Lawn Care. Above all, Joe adored his family and treasured the time spent with all of them, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Kurt Simonsen of Appleton, Desiree Verdiguel of Racine, Gordon Ahles of Racine, Kelly (Leonard) Robbins of Appleton; son-in-law, Wallace (Andrea) Robbins of Waupaca; girlfriend of twelve years, Judie Modrow; sister, Lois Palm of Racine; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents and wife, Joe is preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Robbins; son, Robert Simonsen; and brother-in-law, Alex Palm.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, the family has directed memorials to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin – Oncology Program.
