STURTEVANT – Michelle C. Christian, 57, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Although she battled lung issues for years, her death was unexpected.
She was born in Brighton, CO on July 20, 1960, the daughter of the late Vaughn and Gertrude (nee: Rittershaus) Hanson. She attended JI Case High School.
On February 19, 1977, she married Thomas Michael Christian, Sr. at Atonement Lutheran Church.
Michelle worked for Lincoln Lutheran for 22 years. She loved her job but her declining health forced her retirement.
Michelle helped and touched lives of many people through her loving heart and infectious smile. She had a strong faith in God and loved reading the Bible; especially the Book of Esther. She also enjoyed attending Mass at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Michelle loved festivals, county fairs and live music. However, she was happiest in the company of friends, family and relatives.
In addition to her loving husband, Thomas Christian, Sr. of 41 years, Michelle is survived by her sons, Thomas (Jenna) Christian, Jr. of Milliken, CO, Jacob (Tiffany) Christian of Elgin, SC; her grandchildren, Kaylee, Brandon, Austin, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Allison, Kaelyn and Noah; her great granddaughter, Jordyn; her sisters, Laurie (Tom) Johnson, Leslie (Dave) Simpson, Kris (Tim) Kirchgessner; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave (Kim) Christian, Rick (Jolynn) Christian, Joe (Betty) Christian, Debbie (Greg) Holbus, Linda (Greg) Shain, Don (Shelly) Christian, Sandy (Tom) Boehler, Lisa (Wayne) Sorensen; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Michelle was preceded in death by her brother, Mitchell Hanson; her brother-in-law, Bobby Christian and sister-in-law, Kathy (Don) Wiegand.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12, 2018 for a visitation from 4-6 p.m. A service remembering and celebrating her life will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. A private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
