Patrick Davis says
Peter was a very great person. I knew him only as my bartender at Buffa’s, we never socialized outside that context, but we developed a very humorous and warm relationship over the years (roughly 2012-20) as I patronized the establishment to hear (mainly) the Royal Rounders band, which featured two of the absolute legends (saxist Jerry Jumonville and drummer Freddie Staehle) of New Orleans music of the past 60 years. In the latter years I took to greeting him as “Sneaky Pete.” He was usually very composed and professional at all times, sometimes veering toward stern disciplinarian and other times jovial, but always hardworking. Jerry Jumonville died last December, and Peter’s passing is another grim tragedy. I’ll miss him very much at one of my favorite and most comfortable places in New Orleans, I’m so very sorry to have heard this news, and I wish his family and friends all the best in processing this tragedy. What a wonderful person, totally —

Pete always had a warm welcome for me which I really appreciated through some really difficult times. On days when money was really tight and I could barely afford a diet coke it never bothered him at all and we’d talk about horror movies. Thank you Pete for all those times.
Chad & Sara Vego-Hylton says
To Our Dear Friend Pete,
We will miss you. We had so many good times together that we will never forget.
We will fondly remember our weekly lunches together, many of which were at Wells Bros. You joked and made us laugh so hard, all while you maintained a straight face and a monotone voice.
You were always up for an adventure, whether it was fishing at White Lake (Yes! that Fish WAS huge, even though it got away-I saw it ) or rafting down the Wolf River in your sleeveless T and cut-off jorts.
You made a good time even better by being you.
Please know, you will be missed by many.
-Sara & Chad

Pete, My grief comes in waves (like many) which makes my heart sink. But I remind myself that you’d likely be less than pleased with these sudden waves so, I shift my thoughts and redirect to all the good times, laughs and meaningful talks once had. You’ll be profoundly missed by many, dear. #buffas #nola #mybuddy
