Oscar Priest Adkisson, 85, of Racine was called Home by his Loving Savior on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born in Trezevant, TN on September 6, 1935, son of Etheridge (late) and Hestella (nee: Williams) Adkisson.
Mr. Adkisson proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. On January 2, 1960, in Trezevant, Tennessee he was united in marriage to Audrey O. Luter and later moved to Racine, WI in 1960. Mr. Adkisson had been employed by Racine Steel Castings for 36 years until his retirement in June 1999. For over forty years he was a devout member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Oscar enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and took great pride in raising and teaching his sons and grandchildren to fish in the surrounding lakes in Wisconsin. In addition, he was known for fixing or building anything in his garage. The community knew him as a great auto mechanic as he spent most of his down time working on cars. He was truly a βJack of All Tradesβ.
Surviving are his wife Audrey, their sons, Oscar D. Adkisson, Willard (Deborah) Adkisson, all of Racine, and Alfred (Lisa) Adkisson, of Stone Mountain, GA; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren;Β mother Hestella Adkisson of Trezevant, TN; siblings, Earl (Lurlene) Adkisson, of Atwood, TN, Mabel (Billy) Kelly, of Greenfield, TN, Mary Brown, of Hopkinsville, TN, Angeline (Robert) Moore, of Lexington, KY, and Lula Williamson, of Detroit.Β He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ethridge; two sons, Byron, and Kelvin; and sister, Mattie Taylor.
