Service Details

In keeping with Gene’s last request his funeral was private. Burial, with full military honors, was held in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Eugene “Gene” Presta, 86, passed away at the Villa at Lincoln Park, on Friday, June 25, 2021. He was born in Racine on April 5, 1935, the son of the late Joseph and Margarita (nee: Rago) Presta.

After graduating from St. Catherine’s High School, he served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. Gene had been employed by the American Greeting Card Company. Later, he tended bar for several establishments, including Infusino’s and Roma Lodge.  Gene was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and the Roma Lodge, where he served as President. He enjoyed golfing, playing Bocce, and traveling, especially to Las Vegas.

Surviving are his three children, Joseph Presta, of Tomah, WI, Laura Rannow, of Racine, and Christine (Gary) Sorensen, of Mooresville, NC; 4 grandchildren, Peter (Sadie) Rannow, of Las Vegas, NV, Lauren (Himansu) Sorensen, of Charlotte, NC, Tony Presta, of Racine, Alexander Sorensen, in NC; and his great-grandchildren, Henry, Masen, and Cash; sister-in-law, Jackie Presta, in Michigan. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Presta, and sister, Mary Griffith.

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about.
