August William Keller

Dec 14, 2021

Service Details

There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.

August William Keller died on the evening of December 14th at the age of 83, as a result of complications arising from Covid-19.

August William Keller was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a financial professional, and a veteran. As humorously described by his grandson, (also named August), you might say he turned frugality into an Olympic sport. It takes dedication to drive 15 minutes to Costco every Sunday just to buy two industrial-sized cans of beans for $0.44. You might also say that he was an inexhaustible purveyor of “dad-jokes.”  You would definitely say he accomplished a lot in his time here on earth.

August Keller was born in March of 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Nicholas and Theresa Keller. He graduated from Cooley High School in 1956. Served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in Korea from 1956-57. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Horn, in 1959, and sired two sons, Matthew and Todd Keller. He was the first member of his family to graduate from college, and probably the first member of his family to nearly never make par in a single round of golf.

August William Keller lived a full life, but we wish it could have been even fuller. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sisters, Dorothy Sayyae and Elsie Waterman; his children, Matt Keller (Cindy Keller) and Todd Keller (Angela Keller); his grandchildren, Erica Keller (Tom Ingram), Lauren Jones (Angelo Jones), August Keller (Laura Keller), Grace Keller, and Maggie Keller; his great-grandchildren, Aden Jones, Max Jones, and Lena Jones.

He will live on through the stories we tell one another like, “Remember that time Grandpa took the cookies back out of the garbage?”or “Remember when Grandpa tried to ride Augie’s scooter?”, as well as the little moments, like how he would shake your entire arm when he shook your hand, or how he would try to stuff money in your pockets when no one was looking, He will be missed and will always be loved.

Testimonials

Thank you from Raymond Szymanski Family

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
